McKENZIE, Tenn. (May 10, 2018) – The first weekend in May proved to be fruitful for J&J Auto Racing’s winged sprint car contingent as eight drivers found their way to victory lane. With nearly 50 wins in just four months of racing, the McKenzie, Tenn., chassis manufacturer is off to a fast start.

Nine-time and defending World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series Champion, Donny Schatz, set the tone for the weekend with a win at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on May 4 in the series first return to the track in 11 years. The win was Schatz’s tenth of the 2018 season and his sixth with the WoO Series for the year.

Lee Grosz bested the field in Midwest Sprint Touring Series (MSTS) competition at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on May 4 to put his name on the J&J Auto Racing winner’s board. Grosz’s victory in the 360ci winged sprint car series was his first of the year. He was followed to the line by fellow J&J Auto Racing driver Eric Lutz who finished fifth.

Tyler Drueke earned his second victory of the year in 305ci IMCA RaceSaver winged sprint car competition at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on May 4. Drueke swept the evening as he won both his heat race and the feature event in commanding fashion.

Mike Houseman, Jr., also scored a IMCA 305ci RaceSaver win over the weekend as he picked up the victory at Boone (Iowa) Speedway on May 5.

Boston Mead won his first career 410ci winged sprint car race at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Mich., on May 5. Mead bided his time in a caution-filled feature event and avoided several mishaps en route to the win.

Logan Seavey picked up a 360ci winged sprint car win in ASCS Red River Series competition on May 5 at the series’ flagship track, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., to post his first victory of the season.

Matt Vandervere drove past a stout Interstate Racing Association (IRA) series field at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway on May 5 to round out Saturday’s win streak for J&J Auto Racing.

On Sunday, May 6, Brayden Gaylord put an exclamation point on the weekend with a 305ci winged sprint car victory at Quincy (Ill.) Raceways to cap-off a stellar week of racing. The win was Gaylord’s second of the 2018 season.
