McKENZIE, Tenn. (March 28, 2018) – The old saying goes that if March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. In 2018, the opposite is the case as J&J Auto Racing teams roared to two victories in late March to prove the old wives’ tale to not always be true.
Sheldon Haudenschild and the No. 17 Stenhouse, Jr. – Marshall Racing team is off to a fast start this season as he earned his third World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series victory of the year at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway on March 24. Starting the 35-lap feature event from the night spot, Haudenschild wasted little time in heading to the front. Passing cars and throwing massive sliders along the way, Haudenschild survived a late race caution that took away a four-second lead. Resuming his race to the front, the Ohio native drove away on the restart to claim the checkered flag.
Mississippi’s Dale Howard swept the rain-delayed USCS Outlaw Thunder Shoals Shootout at North Alabama Speedway on March 24 in convincing fashion. Winning the dash event as well as the second heat race of the night and the 30-lap feature event, Howard was the class of the stout 360 field. The No. 47 of Howard was followed to the line by fellow J&J Auto Racing teammates Tony Stewart in second, Morgan Turpen in third and Derek Hagar in fifth to make up a four of five J&J Auto Racing top-five.
