Hickman Wins Eureka Garage & Sheds Sprint Car Series Title

McKENZIE, Tenn. (March 13, 2018) – The old saying goes that the number 13 is unlucky.
Someone should probably let newly crowned Eureka Garage & Shed Sprintcar Series Champion Rusty Hickman in on the secret.
The 18-year-old sprint car standout not only contested all 13 Eureka Series events, he also claimed his first career 410ci sprint car feature event win in his first attempt at Wangaratta City Speedway behind the wheel of the No. VIC40 entry on February 3. Hickman’s second 410ci sprint car and Eureka Series win came at Moama’s Heartland Raceway on Feb. 24.
Hailing from Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, Hickman’s solid run put him in the books as the youngest driver to ever be named as the Eureka Garage & Shed Sprintcar Series champion.
Picking up an extra $200 for setting quick time in the season finale at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway, Hickman only had to finish ninth in his heat race to clinch the title. With a flourish, Hickman took second in his heat and went on to finish eighth in the series’ final event of the season.
“Being able to tick off an achievement like this so early in my career and to do so with the team and my family with me is the most pleasing part of all. Without them, it simply wouldn’t be possible,” said Hickman.
“We had a few up and down moments throughout the season but in the end, we came out the winner and that’s great.”
