McKENZIE, Tenn. (March 8, 2018) – The old saying goes that March comes in like a lion or a lamb and leaves on the opposite note. J&J Auto Racing teams left little doubt that the month came in with a roar.
Donny Schatz, Sheldon Haudenschild and Tony Stewart laid claim to three wins in two series to kick-start J&J Auto Racing’s month of March.
Between Schatz and Haudenschild, they’ve had the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series covered since the season opening run in Florida. As the Outlaws move West, the duo continued their winning ways, sweeping a doubleheader at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas on February 28 and March 1.
Haudenschild kicked off the week’s affair with a narrow win over Schatz on Wednesday night. The Ohio native bested the series veteran in a barn burner that went right up to the last lap to earn his second WoO win of 2018, his third victory of the season.
On Thursday, Schatz’s experience shined as he stalked Haudenschild and overtook the young gun and held him off through several race restarts. It was a battle of the ages with the veteran Schatz coming out on top to earn his third WoO win of the year, his fifth overall on the season.
Stewart broke out the broom on Saturday night as he won the third United Sprint Car Series (USCS) heat race, started from the pole of the feature and set sail to take the checkered flag at Magnolia (MS) Motor Speedway. Earning his first win of the year, Stewart led fellow J&J Auto Racing drivers Derek Hagar, Dale Howard and Morgan Turpen across the line in third, fifth and seventh place, respectively.
